About the Role

Our Analytics team empowers restaurant operators to thrive, not just survive. We’re building a data platform that connects and analyzes performance across POS, booking, inventory, staffing, payments, and more, enabling operators to benchmark performance, forecast trends, and take real-time, data-driven action.

As our first dedicated Data Engineer, you’ll be the technical backbone of our analytics platform. Today, most of our data comes from our internal systems (POS, booking, inventory, payments), but we’re building towards a future that includes external data sources, AI-driven insights, and embedded decision support.

You’ll not only design and maintain the data pipelines and infrastructure that power the platform, but also work across the full stack of analytics delivery: modeling and transforming data, designing useful metrics and dimensions, and building impactful dashboards and visualizations. You’ll partner closely with our analytics lead (who brings deep domain expertise and customer insight) and bring the technical breadth to translate that understanding into robust, scalable, and insightful solutions.

This is a high-impact, cross-functional role where your work will directly shape how restaurant operators make daily decisions on staffing, pricing, menu performance, and more.

Your Mission, Should You Choose to Accept It

• Build and maintain scalable, reliable data pipelines that unify and transform data from Munu’s internal systems, with external sources to be added over time.
• Own the end-to-end data stack, from ingestion and processing to data models, metrics, and dashboards.
• Work closely with our analytics lead, product managers, and engineers to ensure data is accurate, accessible, and actionable.
• Develop and manage data models and business logic that support decision-making across modules like revenue management, menu optimization, and labor planning.
• Support the integration of AI/ML models into data workflows to enable forecasting, nudging, and smart recommendations.
• Design and build high-quality dashboards and visualizations, ensuring business value and usability.
• Establish and enforce best practices around data quality, documentation, and testing.

You’ll Thrive in This Role If You…

• Have high agency and appetite for driving results.
• Bring strong software development and data engineering skills, with an ability to own full-stack data delivery.
• Have proven experience designing and maintaining data pipelines in a production environment.
• Are proficient in SQL and have experience with cloud-based data platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure.
• Have worked with ETL tools, API-based integrations, and real-time or near-real-time processing.
• Know your way around Power BI, Riil, or similar visualization platforms.
• Have a deep understanding of data modeling and business logic.
• Have experience working with AI/ML models or predictive analytics.
• Thrive in product-centric or operational analytics environments.
• Are fluent in English (Norwegian is a bonus)
